Centralized Reservation Center (C.U.P.)

C.U.P. (Centro Unico di Prenotazione) is the centralized reservation center by which citizens can book medical examinations and specialized health services affiliated with the Italian National Health Service (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale). Reservations for hospitals, district health centers, local assistance facilities (PTA: presidi territoriali di assistenza) and provincial accredited facilities can be requested.

In order to make a reservation by C.U.P., the following methods are available:

• telephone number, from Monday to Friday: 8:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.; Tuesday and Thursday: 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., by calling 0932 658702. A medical prescription (white form) is needed to make a reservation;
• C.U.P. help desks in district health centers and hospitals: office hours and locations of the help desks are available on "Sedi e orari degli sportelli aziendali CUP" (C.U.P. help desks locations and office hours).
• Local pharmacies affiliated with the C.U.P. service;
• Online: by clicking on “Reservations”.

Reservations

In order to make a reservation, a request from a general practitioner or a consultant, written on a Italian National Health Service medical prescription (pink form or white digital form), along with the health insurance card, is needed.

When the reservation process is completed, an operator will print a receipt containing the details of the health service requested, such as location, date, time and the amount of the co-payment, if applicable.

CASES IN WHICH A REFERRAL IS NOT REQUIRED

A referral is not necessary for reserving an initial medical examination, as far as the following specialties are concerned:

• Dentistry;
• Obstetrics-Gynecology;
• Psychiatry;
• Child Neuropsychiatry;
• Ophthalmology (limited to visual acuity measurement).

Hospitals ensure that treatments and health services will be provided by a specialist (not a specific one).

HOW TO CANCEL A RESERVATION/IMPLICIT CANCELLATION

If an appointment cannot be fulfilled, CANCELLING THE RESERVATION is highly important, in order to maintain the health service available for other patients. Reservations can be cancelled by phone number 0932 658702 and/or at C.U.P. help desks.

WAITING TIMES

By C.U.P. it is possible to make reservations for Specialist medical examinations and screenings, in every A.S.P. health center and in every private center affiliated with A.S.P..
C.U.P. operators will provide the waiting times in each center for the requested health service.
